Artist bios
Artist bios provide a genesis of your work as an artist. Outside of traditional details like names, mediums, and locations, an artist bio connects your audience with your art using intentional storytelling and approachable language.
They are written in third-person and aim to provide insight on your inspiration, your background, and the narratives behind your art.
artist statements
Artist statements dive deeper into the “why” of your artist bio to better articulate who you are as an artist. Think of your bio as a first impression on a dating app and your statement as the actual first date where someone can get to know you outside of quirky facts.
They are written in first-person and offer a more intimate understanding of your process and artistic application.
curriculum vitae
A curriculum vitae, more commonly known as CV, is a simple summary of your professional career as an artist. It houses information like your place of practice, education, solo exhibitions, teaching opportunities and more.
They serve as a means of social proof in addition to showcasing in an easily digestible format.

Make it stand out.
Your website is so much more than a portfolio. It’s a powerful pathway into entrepreneurship and creative independence. Galleries are wonderful institutions to partner with, but you don’t need them to be successful. Galleries are not the bridge between you and the collectors, your art is.
Utilize your website to get in touch with your patrons directly. Host exclusive virtual exhibitions, artist talks, and curate your own special events for them. Offer them something the galleries can’t-you.
Like we said, It’s more than your portfolio.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
